The tournament was won by Helena Ho and Laila Hassan.

The 4 Zee Australian Ladies' Pairs 2-4-2 tournament was held on the artificial surface on Wednesday, June 14.

Australian pairs is a unique game. The lead throws two bowls, the skip throws four bowls and then the lead throws another two.

The tournament was sponsored by Gordon Jones, our club president, to honour his late wife, Zee Jones.

Zee was a great bowler and a tireless supporter of lawn bowling in general and the Willowdale Lawn Bowling club specifically.

Markers sought for provincial men's singles

Markers are needed for the provincial men’s singles championship to be held at Cosburn Lawn Bowling Club July 8, 9 and 10.

Slots are available for morning, midday and afternoon games. Lunch and refreshments are provided to all volunteers.

Markers centre the jack and mat, maintain the scorecard and chalk all touchers.

They answer player questions about shot, bowls and the position of the jack.

Markers protect the head from bowls coming from adjacent rinks and mark the position of the jack and touchers in the ditch.

But markers don’t measure bowls at this event. The pressure is on the umpires to get that job done.

If you're interested, you will be asked to attend a markers' training session on Thursday, July 6 at 7:00 p.m. at Cosburn Lawn Bowling Club.

If you’re interested in helping, contact the organizers by e-mail (provincials@cosburnbowls.ca) or leave a message at 416-421-4171.

4 Elms Monday night doubles league standings: June 5

MNL standings June 5

The results are in for the first two weeks of the 4 Elms Monday night doubles league. So far, Don and Jane have managed to win their first two games and have a healthy plus/minus.

David and Lorine aren’t far behind. Betty and Chris are the only other undefeated team.

Remember, it’s three points for a win, two points for a tie and one for a loss. If two teams have the same number of wins and losses, the number of points scored minus the number of points given up (+ / -) then determines ranking.

Most of the games have been played (almost) on schedule. Remember, if you miss games, you can make them up any time. All games must be complete by July 31 at 9:00 p.m.

Sunday singles league standings: June 4
